The Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (Centre for Transparency Advocacy) has awarded the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) the “most outstanding Public Institution in Nigeria” for its professional implementation of the Public Service Reforms and promptness in responding to FOI request.
This recognition for the Bureau was presented at the unveiling of the Service Delivery Report and awards for outstanding Public Institutions in Nigeria by the Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG) at the Executive Hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Wednesday 22nd October, 2014.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr Joe Abah thanked the Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group for the award and dedicated it to the staff of the Bureau for their commitment and dedication to the Public Service Reforms and the entire Civil Service. He added that the Bureau of Public Service Reforms’ winning of the award implies that with the right leadership and motivation, civil servants can deliver.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Sam Egwu, former Country Director of UNDP said that the monitoring of Public Institutions and presentation of awards by the ISDMG have been on for two years and that the approach is participatory and analytical. He added that service delivery is at the heart of government and democracy and that Public Institutions are too important to be ignored.
Other Institutions that received awards include Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), National Directorate of Employment (NDE), National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).
